The Leducq Foundation notes with sadness the passing of Dr. Eugene (Gene) Passamani on March 26, 2025. Link to obituary. Gene was a deeply respected cardiologist and clinical investigator whose wisdom and dedication played a key role in shaping the mission of the Leducq Foundation. His long-standing commitment to advancing cardiovascular research and improving patient outcomes made him a valued advisor and collaborator in the Foundation’s early years. Gene brought to the Foundation wealth of knowledge and experience about research and patient care from his leadership roles at the National Institutes of Health and the Suburban Hospital. With an unwavering belief in international scientific cooperation, he helped guide the formation of the Leducq Transatlantic (now International) Networks of Excellence Program. The Leducq Foundation is deeply grateful for his contributions and will remember him with lasting respect and appreciation.
