The Fondation Leducq’s moderated listserv, FLCQList, is a forum in which all members and coordinators from any Transatlantic Network of Excellence can pose questions to a member of any other TNE on issues in cardiovascular and neurovascular research. Appropriate topics include grant administration, program evaluation, and issues related to data access or to the sharing of resources like animals, biological samples, and images. The audience for this email group is all the investigators belonging to any TNE. FLCQ Listserv is a moderated email list, which means that messages are reviewed by the Fondation Leducq’s staff before being posted. FLCQList moderator uses the guidelines below to determine whether to post a message. With this listserv product, moderator is not allowed to edit the subject line or content of a message. Messages that do not conform to content or subject line guidelines may be returned to the sender for correction before posting.
All members of the TNE from 2008 to 2014 that are included on FLCQ’s distribution list are automatically subscribed to the listserv. Anyone who does not wish to participate may unsubscribe at any time by using the link at the bottom of each message. Upon being subscribed to the listserv, each subscriber receives a welcome message from FLCQList containing a password that can be used to access the FLCQList archives (see below) and to manage preferences for receiving messages (digest versus individual message). If any other member of a TNE wishes to be added to the listserv, please notify Sylvie Hulot, the FLCQList moderator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Before posting a new query to the listserv, please check the response summaries to make sure your question has not been asked before. Summaries of high volume responses to listserv inquiries will be categorized by general topic area.
In order for the listserv to be useful and not burdensome, participants must be able to determine from the subject line whether they are interested in opening the posting. For that reason, creating an accurate and descriptive subject line and retaining the subject line for replies will improve the functioning of the listserv.
Signature: Include a signature tag line on all messages that includes your name, your Institution name, location, and email address
Subject line: State concisely and clearly the specific topic or question of your email in the subject line. This allows members to preview your request. When you reply to a posting, do not change the subject line. (If you use the reply option to respond to a different message or to create a new thread, make sure to change the subject line to indicate which posting you are responding to.)
FYI: for announcements of general interest – follow the “FYI” with a description of the content of the message, such as “FYI: Article of interest in this week’s SCIENCE.
Avoid attachments: Please avoid attachments when possible. Not everyone will be interested in each posting, and attachments require valuable email inbox space. Attachments up to 1 MB are permitted
Messages Not Permitted:
- No personal responses
- No “me too” messages
- No soliciting: Solicitation for funds is not permitted.
- No duplicate messages: Multiple messages with the same information or same request will not be posted. The moderator may add a marked Moderator Note informing others that more than one person submitted the question/information.
Posting and Replying to Messages:
- To post a new query to the listserv, clearly word your message, add the subject line following the guidelines above, and send it to the following email address: “email@example.com”. Please note that you must be subscribed to the listserv to be allowed to post a message and that you must send the message directly from the email address with which you were subscribed. A moderator may reply to direct you to resources on the FLQ website or summaries of responses to earlier listserv queries that may affect your posting. At the conclusion of this process, the query will be posted by the FLQ moderator, identifying which member of a TNE submitted the question, directing all replies to be sent to the listserv.
- To reply to a message, select “reply all.” This sends your message back to the moderator, and the reply will be posted to the listserv as soon as it is released by the moderator. “Me too” replies will be returned to the sender with an explanation. Important: In order for the listserv to remain a valuable resource for FLQ TNE members, please do NOT reply directly to the person who posted the query. When the listserv is bypassed, everyone loses out on a learning opportunity.
