The Fondation Leducq Transatlantic Career Development Award will be funded for the first time in 2009-2010. This award represents an evolution of the Transatlantic Fellowship Program established in 2007. Whereas the previous program provided support for young investigators to engage in transatlantic research, the Career Development Award is open to both junior and senior investigators. The award is designed to allow investigators to work on the other side of the Atlantic from his or her country of origin with a member of a Leducq network.
The objectives of the Transatlantic Career Development Award are to develop outstanding researchers capable of performing original and innovative cardiovascular or neurovascular research in an international and collaborative context; to engage investigators in translational research through interactive investigation with a Leducq network comprised of basic science and clinical researchers; to support the career development of investigators committed to international and collaborative research; and to reinforce the objectives of the Transatlantic Networks of Excellence Program.
Candidates must apply through an eligible transatlantic network. A list of eligible networks is found in the program description below. Interested applicants can contact the investigators directly, or contact the Fondation Leducq (contact@flcq.org) for further information.

The deadline for application submission is Monday, September 14, 2009. Award notification will be made in December 2009, with an anticipated start date in the summer or autumn of 2010.
